About
The practice
The Platform ZA is a strategy practice, not an agency.
We work with South African businesses that are already trading, already have customers, and have arrived at the point where effort alone has stopped producing progress.
The practice is led by Lerato Mathodlana, a business strategist and certified executive and management coach. Her background is in public service operations, governance and risk, and enterprise operations leadership — which is an unglamorous way of saying she spent years watching organisations make decisions badly, at scale, and learning exactly where they came apart.
She writes The Founder Brief and has an audience of around 90 000 founders who follow the work and argue with it in public.

How we are different, concretely
Diagnosis before prescription
We do not propose work in the first conversation. Most of what gets sold as strategy is a solution chosen before anyone established what the problem was.
A named method
The same instruments in every engagement, so the work is repeatable rather than improvised, and so you can see what you are buying.
We will disagree with you
You are not paying for agreement. If the plan you walked in with is wrong, saying so is the service.
Writing, not decks
You get a written synthesis you can actually work from, not sixty slides nobody opens twice.
What we believe
That most South African businesses do not fail from lack of effort. They fail from a decision nobody made, made too late, or made on an assumption that was never examined.
That a business deserves to be understood before it is changed.
And that if someone studied the decisions your business made over the last ninety days, they ought to be able to identify your strategy from them. If they could not, the strategy is a document rather than a practice.
